European Coast Guard Functions Academy Network (ECGFA NET) project is ending after several years of fruitful collaboration. In 2015 the project was launched to enhance training cooperation in coast guard functions. The project has achieved the following goals: Summary report of the ECGFA NET project.
These achievements are complementary to initiatives that are taking place in the inter-Agency cooperation on CGF. The EU Agencies – EFCA, EMSA and Frontex – are committed to ensuring an appropriate follow-up of the project and are assessing the best way forward in building a future cooperation framework based on the results. EFCA, as chair of capacity building cooperation under the Tripartite Working Arrangement, would take a coordination role and host the Training Portal. The Agencies will inform their stakeholders and invite them to be a part of the future cooperation framework that will further elaborate on the project results.
The project has been led by the Finnish Border Guard in cooperation with the Italian Coast Guard and the Spanish Maritime Safety and Rescue Agency. Over the years, the project received a total of 1.5 M. € funding from the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund.
